2 die after motorcyle, SUV collide in Sabre Springs

Two people died after a motorcycle collided with SUV in Sabre Springs just after midnight Friday, San Diego police said.

The initial investigation indicates an 18-year-old woman riding a Yamaha motorcycle allegedly ran a red light while heading east at the intersection of Poway Road with Sabre Springs Parkway around 12:15 a.m., Officer Jose Perales said.

At the same time, a 72-year-old man driving a Mitsubishi Montero north on Sabre Springs Parkway made a left turn at the intersection with the signal showing a green left arrow, Perales said. The motorcycle crashed into the driver’s side of the SUV.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, Perales said. The driver was taken to a hospital, where he died.

No other information was immediately available.
