Eight days of music, surfing, film and art are taking place in Encinitas from Saturday, Sept. 13 through Saturday, Sept. 20 at the Solento Surf Festival. The event kicked off on Sept. 13 with a free beach day at the Seaside Reef in Cardiff that included a surf contest, live music and local vendors. Photos on this page are of participants in the surf contest, which included a Men’s Open competition and the “Fire vs Water” (firefighters vs lifeguards) competition, among other events.
