2026 Nonprofit Guide: Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank
Mission statement
Founded in 1977, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Serving as the region’s food safety net, the organization provides food to people in need, advocates for the hungry and educates the public about hunger-related issues.
Our 2026 goals
In FY 2026, we aim to distribute more than 37 million meals to our neighbors in need in San Diego County.
The areas we serve
Through a network of direct service programs and more than 450 nonprofit partners, the Food Bank serves an average of 400,000 people every month throughout all of San Diego County.
Fundraising events
San Diego Food Bank Gala — May 2, 2026. Enjoy live music, auctions, gourmet bites, and dinner at our Miramar warehouse. Now in its 14th year, the gala supports vital hunger-relief programs.
Calling all volunteers
We welcome all volunteers — whether large or small, schools, faith-based organizations, or corporate teams seeking team-building experiences. Opportunities are available in our warehouses, at distribution sites across the county, and alongside nonprofit partners. More than 15,000 volunteers contributed over 100,000 hours in FY 24-25. For more information, visit sandiegofoodbank.org/volunteer.
Donation opportunities
There are many ways to join us in the fight against hunger. Organize a food drive to collect nonperishable food items, host a virtual food drive, or simply make a donation.
No gift is too small. A monthly gift of just $15 provides one healthy meal every day, every month, for the entire year.
For every dollar donated, the Food Bank can provide enough food for two meals to San Diegans in need. Make a gift today at sandiegofoodbank.org/donate.
