31st Annual Lighting of the Encinitas Heritage Tree to be held Dec. 5
The Encinitas Historical Society, in yearly partnership with the City of Encinitas and support from the Encinitas Rotary Club, will present the 31st Annual Lighting of the Encinitas Heritage Tree. The celebration will be held at the Moonlight Beach upper parking lot on Friday, Dec. 5, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Attendance and parking are free, according to a news release.
The Encinitas Heritage Tree Lighting program will feature three Encinitas Union School District choirs: The El Camino Creek Elementary School Choir, The Flora Vista Elementary School Choir, and the La Costa Heights Elementary School Choir. The Encinitas Union School District promotes students’ participation in singing through its choir program “Joy in Every Note.”
This year the La Costa Heights will join Free Verse in singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” as attendees cheer the arrival of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus from the North Pole, courtesy of the Encinitas Fire Department.
The El Camino Creek Choir and the San Diego North Coast Singers Brioso choir will close out the program with a medley of holiday classics, capped off by a performance of the John Lennon holiday song, “Happy Christmas, War Is Over”, the news release stated.
The Encinitas Historical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, interpreting, and offering public access to the city’s rich past through its research, library programs, exhibits, publications, and digital resources. The Encinitas Historical Society is located at Encinitas’ most famous and oldest structure, the Old Schoolhouse built in 1883.
