A safer world begins with the end of nuclear threats
Re “Hiroshima marks 80 years since atomic bombing” (Aug. 6): According to the Federation of American Scientists, nine nations possess nuclear weapons, with approximately 90% of those weapons belonging to Russia and the United States. Iran is not among the world’s nuclear armed states, according to the Congressional Research Service and U.S. intelligence assessments.
Some might say the goal of a nuclear-free world is a fool’s errand. However, I believe San Diego County residents, and all of humanity, will be safer without the imminent threat of another nuclear holocaust. It is my hope that humanity will come together and abolish nuclear weapons.
