Article about reviving nuclear plant wasn’t very encouraging

Re “Hope revived for nuclear plant” (Aug. 24): The Bloomberg News article about reviving the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant does not sell what it’s trying to sell very well.

The article states how old and outdated the plant is. It notes that the plant is used to help train operators who might have to deal with terrorist attacks and earthquakes. The plant can also be affected by wildfires.

Diablo Canyon also serves as a storage facility for all the radioactive nuclear waste it produces — right next to the Pacific Ocean. In California, we don’t have to worry about things like earthquakes, terrorist attacks and definitely not wildfires. The concrete canisters the waste is stored in can withstand a locomotive hitting them at 20 mph. How did they test that? I’m feeling safer already, aren’t you?

Nuclear plants around America are being revived and for what — energy for AI?
