Make a Mech!

Aug. 9, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.Presented by The Clueless FTC Robotics Team, this special event will help young people learn STEM skills as they build a 3D-printed hydraulic arm. It’s completely free to attend on Saturday, Aug. 9, but space is limited. Call 858-756-2512 to register. Ages 9 to 16 are welcome!

Rancho Santa Fe Library Book Club

Writers Group

Aug. 13 and every second Wednesday, 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.Are you competent, diligent, and amiable writer of fiction or narrative non-fiction? Then join us as we meet to discuss the creative process, mechanics of craft, and representation and happenings in the publishing world. We also talk about books, films and more. The next meeting will be Aug. 13.

iPhone and AI Basics

Aug. 16, 10:30 a.m. Discover how to use your iPhone with confidence while exploring the world of Artificial Intelligence! In this one-hour workshop on Saturday, August 16, you’ll practice essential iPhone gestures, learn how to navigate common apps, and get introduced to helpful AI tools like ChatGPT. Adult Jewelry Making

Aug. 22, 10:30 a.m.Carol Murphy will show you how to make your own sea treasures pendant and chain. All supplies provided. Registration required at the branch or call 858-756-2512 to reserve your spot. The class is limited to 20 people.

Disaster Preparedness Presentation: Home & Fire Safety

Aug. 23, 10:30 a.m.Come to the library for a two-hour emergency preparedness training designed to help individuals and families before disaster strikes. This interactive session, on Saturday, Aug. 23, will guide you through simple steps you can take to stay safe in fires, earthquakes, floods, or public health events. Gently Hugged: Help babies in need in August

Gently Hugged collects gently used or new infant clothing in sizes newborn to 12-months, as well as handmade items, books, toys and shoes. These items are packed and distributed through agencies to babies in need in the San Diego area. Drop off items for donation at the Rancho Santa Fe Library. Exhibition by the Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild

Until Aug. 29The Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild hosts a display called, “The Sea.” It will be in the Media Room at the Rancho Santa Fe Library, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a reception on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. This event is for those 13 years of age and up. Refreshments provided.

Chair Yoga

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.Join us for some gentle chair yoga with Silver Age Yoga. Space is limited to 25 and is on first-come first-served basis.

Meditation and Mindfulness

American Flag Drop Off

If it’s time to retire your American Flag, please drop it off at the library. There is a drop box and your flag will be treated with respect.

Battery Drop Off at Library

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a safe place to dispose of small batteries, including A, AA, AAA, C, lithium (with taped covered ends), cell phone and other small batteries. Do your part to stop pollution by bringing this toxic trash to the library. The drop-off program is in partnership with Universal Waste.

Seeds and Sustainability

The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a seed library too! Come by to pick up two free seed varieties that you can take home and plant.
