Authorities have publicly identified a 68-year-old man who was killed last week in a bicycle crash at Lake Murray Recreation Area.
David Engler of El Cajon was riding in a bike lane next to the eastern San Diego municipal reservoir when he crashed head-on into another bicyclist shortly before 7:30 a.m. Friday, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Engler died of blunt-force injuries at the scene of the accident, the agency reported.
Paramedics took the other bicyclist to a hospital for treatment of injuries of undisclosed severity.
