Billions spent on homelessness without results or accountability

by U T Readers

Re “S.D. homelessness services struggling amid funding loss” (Aug. 11): This article on the county’s new parking facility for homeless vehicle owners in Grantville gives us additional insight to the latest greatest scheme.

Early in, the article states, “It’s difficult to say exactly how much the region spends on homelessness.” It notes, “The project required cooperation between two political parties and three levels of government. U.S. Rep. Sara Jacobs, a Democrat, helped round up $850,000 in federal funding.”

Do the math. That’s over $40,000 per parking space on land already owned by the county.

Welcome to the homelessness industrial complex. Billions in taxpayer dollars spent statewide and nobody can account for it. What a scam.
