Book sales at Remington net Rancho Bernardo fire station donation
Fire Station No. 33 in Rancho Bernardo recently received a $2,440 donation through the sale of a book edited years ago by a Remington Club resident.
“The Miracle of Life at La Jolla Cove,” published in 2015, was written by David Sattler. He was also its photographer. His mother is Remington resident Ginny Shabatay, who served as his editor.
The book features more than 140 images of La Jolla’s seascapes and wildlife, according to its description on Amazon.
Sattler’s book was sold at the Remington Club, which contacted Robin Kaufman, RB Community Council and Friends of Fire Station #33 president, to see if some of the book’s proceeds could be donated to the fire station, Kaufman said.
The Friends provide the fire station in Rancho Bernardo with items the City of San Diego does not fund, Kaufman said.
“ It was their (Sattler and Shabatay’s) idea that he give a presentation of the book … with a portion of the proceeds going to assist (the station),” Kaufman said. “The reason — the firefighters respond to a large amount of calls at the facility and are always so kind and friendly.”
