Boy, 11, seriously injured in hit-and-run in Escondido
Police on Thursday searched for the driver suspected of hitting and critically injuring an 11-year-old boy in Escondido, then leaving the scene.
The alleged hit-and-run happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday on East Washington Avenue and Hickory Street, according to the Escondido Police Department.
The boy was first rushed to an area hospital, then later airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, police said.
No update on the boy’s condition was available Thursday.
Lt. Craig Miller told City News Service that police were “actively investigating today to run down some leads.”
Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call Officer Paul Smyth at 760-839-4423.
