Camp Pendleton Marine dies in vehicle accident during training exercise
A Camp Pendleton Marine died Wednesday after being injured in a tactical vehicle mishap during routine training, the base said in a statement.
The accident occurred around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. The base did not say whether the Marine was participating in Steel Knight, a huge, two-week exercise that began on Monday.
The Marine was a member of Camp Pendleton’s 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, officials said.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, and the victim’s identity will be released later this week, after family members have been notified.
