City seeks community input on parks after ignoring the community’s input
“San Diego survey seeks to learn of recreational needs” (Aug. 22): What a waste of public time and funds for the city to launch yet another needs assessment for parks and recreation “because the department was likely unaware of community recreational needs.” In Golden Hill/South Park, community members spent thousands of hours in hearings over eight years to provide input to parks and recreation staff and consultants for the department’s updated 2016 Community Plan. That input was not even considered in 2021 hearings on the same topic for the Recreation/Parks Element of the City Master Plan, but we gave it again. How much will the city pay for the new staff/consultants to ask the same questions while ignoring the answers?
