College honors, degrees for Pacific Beach area students
Students from the Pacific Beach and Mission Beach area have earned degrees and academic honors from their colleges and universities.

Alan Schedler was among the more than 430 undergraduates and graduate students to receive their degrees as the Class of 2025 at Concordia University’s commencement ceremony.
Schedler earned a Master of Business Administration from the campus in Seward, Nebraska.

Two local students earned academic honors at Southern New Hampshire University.
Brooke Hall was named to its Spring 2025 Dean’s List. To be honored, full-time undergraduate students had to earn a minimum GPA of 3.500 to 3.699.
Jeff Hatleli was named to its Spring 2025 President’s List. To be honored, full-time undergraduate students had to earn a GPA of 3.7 and above.

Jacqueline Farias, a senior at Wisconsin Lutheran College, was named to its Spring 2025 Dean’s List. Farias is a graduate of La Jolla High School.
To be eligible, students had to earn a semester GPA of 3.6 or higher at the campus in Milwaukee.

Two locals were named to the Spring 2025 Dean’s List at Emerson College. To be honored by the campus in Boston, they had to earn a semester GPA 3.7 or higher. Receiving recognition were:
• Cameron McAllister, who is majoring in sports communication and a member of the Class of 2028.
• Mariana Merlos, who is majoring in theater and performance and a member of the Class of 2025.

Mariana Merlos was among the approximately 1,000 undergraduates in the Class of 2025 to receive their degrees during Emerson College’s 145th Commencement Ceremony in Boston. Merlos earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater and performance.

Elizabeth Fernandez and Brandon Stone were among the approximately 2,180 students named to the Spring 2025 Provost’s List at Ohio University. To be honored at the campus in Athens, Ohio, part-time undergraduate students had to earn a GPA of 3.5 or greater.

Mackenzie Rowe graduated “with distinction” with a Master of Business Administration in business administration from Stanislaus State University.
Rowe was among the more than 3,000 degree candidates and credential recipients at the campus’ 65th Commencement ceremonies in Turlock, California. To graduate “with distinction,” graduate students had to earn a minimum GPA of 3.9 and be nominated by their department for high honors when receiving their degrees.

Five locals were among the nearly 18,000 University of Maryland Global Campus students named to its Spring 2025 Dean’s List. To be eligible, they had to complete at least six credits during the term, earn a GPA of at least 3.5 for the term and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.
Those honored by the campus based in Adelphi, Maryland were Julian Box, Kynlen Chan, Jared Holland, Kenneth Klein and Adrian Ramos.

Adrian Ramos graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Ramos was one of 6,770 students worldwide who earned degrees from the campus based in Adelphi, Maryland.

Mica Talarico-Smith, a member of the Class of 2027, was named to the Spring 2025 Dean’s List at Tufts University. To be honored by the university in Massachusetts, students had to earn a semester GPA of 3.4 or greater.
