Community Gift Guide: 4 must-shop places in Solana Beach this holiday season
Shopping in Solana Beach’s Cedros Design District is always a fun experience. Toss in the holidays, and the fun quotient increases exponentially. If you’re trying to check off items on your holiday gift-giving list, these four shops definitely deliver, putting Solana Beach on our shopping must list.
Native Poppy

After a visit, you can’t help but walk out of this shop happy. This is primarily a flower shop but with an abundant offering of gifts throughout. It’s owned and operated by women with locations in Solana Beach, South Park and Mission Valley. The Solana Beach shop has a relaxed, beachy vibe with a color palette of bright whites and happiness-inducing shades of peach. The Solana Beach and South Park outposts have flowers, of course, but they also have well-appointed gift sections that include items like cards, lotions, candles, vases, dishtowels and more. The online portal has a robust gift and merchandise section, so if you must, you can shop online, too. But the in-person experience truly can’t be beat. 142 S. Cedros Ave., Solana Beach. 619-535-0245, nativepoppy.com
Yes Yes Collective

Just a few shops up the street from Native Poppy is a store that screams “unique!” Think small antique mall with one-of-a-kind wares from more than 20 artisans offering a combination of handmade and antique products. Yes Yes Collective, one can say, is the perfect embodiment of the Cedros Design District — an eclectic mish-mash of classic and contemporary, with just enough quirky tossed in the mix. There’s just about everything here, from antique artworks and glassware to hand-carved pottery to textile from foreign lands. Music lovers will love a big section dedicated to music — vinyls and cassettes. 320 S. Cedros Ave., Solana Beach. 760-906-0647, @yesyescollective on Instagram
SoLo

This shop has been a personal favorite since it first opened in 2001, and happily, 24 years later, it will continue to be on the must list. Offering everything from stationery to home decor to books — lots of books — SoLo is the perfect place to do some holiday shopping. The 4,000-square-foot space is packed with so much inventory to keep you busy for a while. Owners describe it as a “carefully curated retail environment where design lovers and casual shoppers alike will find the unexpected.” A personal take: Emphasis on “design lovers”! A mix of vintage and contemporary ensures there’s something for everyone. 309 S. Cedros Ave., Solana Beach. 858- 794-9016, solooncedros.com
TaDah Home Decor

Just down the street from SoLo is TaDah Home Decor. The store is packed with unique accessories for the home, from lamps and pottery to blankets and throw pillows. Whatever your style, whether shabby chic or coastal contemporary, TaDah Home Decor has so much inventory, there’s bound to be something that catches your eye. And if you love Christmas, you won’t be disappointed: Christmas ornaments and decorations abound. 143 S. Cedros Ave, Suite D, Solana Beach. 858-259-1991, @tadahoncedros on Instagram.
