Del Mar Rose Society carries on ‘The Thanksgiving of Roses’ tradition

by Dawn Giangiulio

Del Mar Rose Society, founded in 2000, has a 25-year long tradition called “The Thanksgiving of Roses”. This year, 20 members of the society gathered to create 80 bouquets of roses collected from their own gardens and the generous donation of roses from SunVista Farms, according to a news release.

On Wednesday, Nov. 26, with the coordination of Del Mar Community Connections, volunteers from the Del Mar Rose Society visited older adults to deliver these beautiful bouquets as part of the annual Thanksgiving of Roses tradition. They wanted to show the seniors, often home-bound or recently widowed, how appreciated they are.

The next meeting will be held Jan. 29. For more on the Del Mar Rose Society, visit delmarrosesociety.com.
