Dogs have a tail-wagging good time at Poodle Palooza
by Elizabeth Marie Himchak
Several dozen poodles, poodle mixes and other dog breeds showed up for the annual Poodle Palooza Extravaganza.
The Oct. 18 fundraiser in Rancho Bernardo’s Webb Park benefited the 4 Paws of Love pet therapy organization.
The event included a poodle parade, with poodles and their owners walking around the park. Many of the poodles were in costumes, as were some of their human companions.
The event also included around 30 dog- and non-dog-related vendors, demonstrations, contests, opportunity drawings, games for the dogs, Canine Good Citizen testing and a silent auction.
4 Paws of Love is a nonprofit with therapy teams that visit a wide range of individuals and facilities to bring smiles. The dogs visit children in schools and libraries, college students on de-stress days and people living in memory care, retirement, assisted living and health care facilities. The teams also visit people in hospitals, in hospice, with special needs or developmental challenges and those dealing with disasters.
