Driver stabs other motorist in apparent road rage near Lakeside
A 29-year-old driver was arrested over the weekend after authorities allege he stabbed another driver during an apparent road-rage confrontation in the Lakeside area.
The incident happened about 6:15 p.m. Friday on northbound state Route 67 north of Slaughterhouse Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol said in a news release Tuesday,
The law enforcement agency said the driver of black 2024 Ford F-150 forced the driver of a gray 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee onto the shoulder along the northbound lanes.
After both drivers got out of their vehicles, the pickup driver allegedly pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed the Jeep driver, the CHP said.
The assailant fled. The Jeep driver, who remained at the scene, was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening, the CHP said.
Hours later, about 1:45 a.m. Saturday, the suspect was arrested in Poway, according to the CHP.
Online jail records indicate the 29-year-old remained in custody without bail Tuesday, and he was slated to be arraigned Wednesday.
