Foodie Forecast: Cooking class, Taste of Gaslamp, nine-course matcha dinner

Lobster deal: Lobster lovers can rejoice on National Lobster Day, as The Trap Shack is offering a sale on its signature dish. Customers who come in and order the Trap Shack’s OG Roll can get a second one for 50% off. Hispanic cooking class: The public can learn how to cook traditional Mexican dishes at Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month cooking class. The Cooking Cocineras Tradicionales event brings together chefs Freida Casas, Rocina Lizarraga and Delia Rios to teach guests how to prepare food from their regions of Mexico: Guerrero, Sinaloa and Zacatecas. Taste of Gaslamp: The Taste of Gaslamp is a self-guided culinary tour of San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter. It spans 16 city blocks with 20 participating restaurants. A VIP ticket offers entry to seven additional restaurants and bars. Plus, an after-party is scheduled at 5 o’Clock Somewhere Rooftop Bar inside the Margaritaville Hotel. 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. $55-$90. gaslamp.org/tasteofgaslamp
Wine and whiskey: Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa is hosting its annual Whiskey & Wine Party. This 21 and up event brings together tastings from various beverage companies such as Macallan Whiskey, Angel’s Envy Bourbon, Trinchero Family Wine and Caymus Wine. Nine-course dinner: Matcha takes center stage at Glass Box’s nine-course, one-night dinner. The ticketed meal includes a variety of drinks and food that are all infused with matcha. Some of the nine-course items include a matcha cocktail, bluefin tuna belly, black cod nigiri, scallops and a matcha white chocolate mousse. Chicken special: Food 4 Less is offering customers a deal on Thursdays. The grocery store chain is selling its whole rotisserie chickens for $6 each. CRUSH wine festival in Temecula: CRUSH 2025: A Wine & Culinary Showcase returns on Sept. 27.
