Foodie Forecast: Holiday cocktails, feta fries, holiday chocolates pop-up

Here is some of the latest in dining news from across San Diego County, as well as some upcoming events for foodies.

Parfait Party: Parfait Party, an ice cream pop-up, is taking over Tajima Ramen in the Convoy District for a one-day holiday-themed dining experience. The event will have live entertainment and a one-day dining menu. Some of the food options include truffle ribeye ramen, omurice omelette, curry rice with karaage and a crunchy dragon roll with shrimp tempura roll. Drink specials include melon cream soda, lychee unfiltered sake and The Moon Prism, which mixes vodka, butterfly peaflower tea, lemon and elderflower syrup. 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday. 4411 Mercury St. #110, San Diego. 858-278-5367, instagram.com/parfait.party.sd

Bluefin tuna cutting and tasting workshop: Gelson’s Del Mar is hosting a bluefin tuna cutting and tasting event. The workshop will be led by a chef who will teach attendees how to cut bluefin tuna. The chef will be using a 132-pound whole bluefin tuna. Guests will also get a five-course tasting featuring salted edamame, a chirashi salad with fish, a sashimi nigiri combo and a seared tuna steak. Plus, a swag bag will be given to all attendees. Holiday cocktail pop-up: Brickman’s Restaurant at Lakehouse Resort is introducing a holiday cocktail pop-up bar. The Veranda Room is filled with holiday decorations, where guests can order specialty holiday cocktails. Some of the beverage options are a gingerbread old-fashioned, a rum cake tiki cocktail, spiked hot chocolate and festive shots served on a mini Christmas tree. Mocktails and children’s drinks are also available and delivered in collectible cups. Holiday chocolates pop-up this weekend: French pastry chef Christophe Rull is bringing back artisan chocolatier Annaluna Karkar for another two-day holiday chocolates pop-up at his Christophe Rull Patisserie in San Marcos this weekend. Rull hosted Karkar in late October for a two-day pop-up where all of her handmade chocolates sold out quickly. For this weekend’s event, she will be selling holiday-themed chocolates and Rull will offer some of his signature pastries. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 251 N. Tender Greens: New holiday specials have bloomed at Tender Greens. Customers can now get limited-time hot and ready meals for four and à la carte sides. There is a short rib plate with sweet potato mash or mashed potatoes, red wine shallot sauce, citrus gremolata and sautéed French green beans. The meals for four people include a choice of holiday steak, salt and pepper chicken, salmon or short ribs. New side options are green beans, brown rice, baby spinach, macaroni and cheese, farro salad, braised beans and bolognese pasta. Cloak & Petal: Little Italy sushi restaurant Cloak & Petal has released its holiday menu with drink and food deals. Food options include pan-seared miso salmon and the winter wonderland roll, which contains salmon, chipotle tuna, shrimp tempura, cucumber, torched lemon aioli, jalapeno cream cheese and cranberry ponzu. Some of the holiday drinks are the Kringle Colada with vodka, pineapple, coconut cream and lemon and the Have a Peary Christmas with white rum, a spiced pear liqueur, honey and lemon. The Great Greek: For those looking for something to eat that is not holiday-themed, try Greek fries.
