Genesis Opera Theatre presents Puccini’s comic opera

Giacomo Puccini’s beloved one-act comic opera “Gianni Schicci” is coming to the Bornemann Theatre in San Marcos for three enchanting performances Sept. 5-7.

In this production, Genesis Opera Theatre’s “Gianni Schicchi” is reimagined as a vibrant modern setting in Florence and bursting with humor, mischief, and memorable melodies, including the famed “O mio babbino caro.” This expertly sung production in English by a cast of 14 featuring internationally-known performers from all over Southern California brings to life a tale of scheming relatives, forged wills, and unexpected twists, according to a news release.

Patrons will begin the evening by enjoying a vibrant opera concert that celebrates the very best of the genre. Featuring operatic highlights from Puccini’s most beloved works alongside other operatic and musical theatre gems, this concert performance offers a rich musical journey that sets the tone for the operatic hilarity of “Gianni Schicchi” to follow.
