Guesthouse Hotel now open in Rancho Santa Fe

The new Guesthouse Hotel at La Valle is now welcoming visitors in Rancho Santa Fe.

Set at the entrance to the La Valle Coastal Club, the 77-room boutique hotel reopened after a $15 million renovation that began last year. The original hotel on the property was built in the 1970s; all three buildings were torn down to the studs and reimagined by San Diego-based firm Hannah Gabriel Wells. The updated rooms feature a spacious layout with warm wood floors and modern furnishings.

“We’re eager to welcome guests to Guesthouse and to be part of the exciting transformation at La Valle Coastal Club,” said General Manager Fernando Fry in a news release. “This property was designed to reflect the relaxed luxury and natural beauty of Rancho Santa Fe, while offering an experience that feels both elevated and effortless. Whether you’re here for a weekend getaway, business trip or wellness retreat, we look forward to creating unforgettable stays rooted in comfort, connection and community.”

The revamped hotel is just one piece of a $35 million transformation of the entire club, formerly known as Morgan Run. After Meriwether Companies purchased the property in 2023, they planned the updates in phases in order to create as little disruption as possible for the membership.

Already 18 holes on the 27-hole course have been completely redone and the club made improvements to its racquet sports program, opening eight new tennis courts, eight pickleball courts and two padel courts. Renovations are underway on the final nine holes, a new short game area and an expanded driving range, expected to be completed this fall.

According to the news release, major clubhouse renovations are also in progress including a new entry, refreshed restaurant and event spaces, and a new hydrotherapy circuit in the spa that will feature an infrared sauna, dry sauna and cold plunge areas. Construction on the updated swimming pool is set to begin in the fall.

Springboard Hospitality is managing the new Guesthouse.

“Guesthouse at La Valle represents exactly the kind of thoughtful, experience-driven property we’re proud to bring to life,” said Rob Robinson, president of Springboard Hospitality in the news release. “By combining boutique accommodations with exclusive access to one of Southern California’s most dynamic private clubs, we’re creating a destination that’s both aspirational and welcoming. It’s a place where guests can relax, recharge and immerse themselves in everything North County San Diego has to offer.”

A stay at Guesthouse will include access to the club’s pool, racquet sports facilities, fitness center, social putting green and the new hydrotherapy circuit. For an additional fee, guests can add spa treatments, fitness classes and book tee times.

The new hotel is offering a limited-time Grand Opening Package of 20% off a minimum two-night stay, plus a $100 La Valle Coastal Club credit. To learn more visit guesthousehotel.com or lavallecoastalclub.com.
