High surf will produce hazardous rip currents at San Diego County beaches this week

High surf will produce hazardous rip currents from late Tuesday night until early Friday morning along the San Diego County coastline, where the tide also will be higher than usual, the National Weather Service said.

The waves will arrive from the west-northwest and will reach 4 to 6 feet high, with periodically higher sets.

The morning high tide at La Jolla will reach 6.86 feet at 6:48 a.m. Wednesday, 7.12 feet at 7:29 a.m. Thursday, and 7.19 feet at 8:13 a.m. Friday. Forecasters say the surf and tides could cause minor coastal flooding.
