How San Diegans fared in Major League Baseball this season
By the end of Major League Baseball’s regular season, 44 players with San Diego ties — high school, junior college or college — appeared in big-league games or on injured lists. A handful are still playing, part of postseason rosters.
Here’s a look at the list. All stats through the end of the regular season:

Nick Allen; INF; Braves; Francis Parker High School: Defensive wizard played in a career-high 135 games, hitting .221 with 11 doubles and 22 RBIs.
Sean Bouchard; INF/OF; Rockies; Cathedral Catholic High School: Played in 32 games, hitting .167 with one home run and 17 RBIs before being sent to Triple-A.
Trenton Brooks;OF; Padres; Granite Hills High School: Played in 25 games, hitting .146 with a homer and two RBIs.
Kris Bryant; INF/OF; Rockies; University of San Diego: Played in 11 games before being placed on the 60-day IL with lumbar degenerative disc disease.
Tommy Edman; INF/OF; Dodgers; La Jolla Country Day School: Played in 97 regular-season games in an injury-plagued season. Hit .225 with 13 home runs, 13 doubles, and 49 RBIs.
Calvin Faucher; RHP; Marlins; Hilltop High School /Southwestern College: Appeared in a career-high 65 games, going 4-4 with 15 saves and a 3.28 ERA.
Ryan Forcucci; RHP; Astros; San Marcos High School/UC San Diego: Had Tommy John Surgery and missed all of the 2025 season.
Ty France; 1B; Twins/Blue Jays; San Diego State: Played in 138 games, hitting .257 with seven home runs and 52 RBIs.
Kevin Ginkel; RHP; Diamondbacks; El Capitan High School/Southwestern College: Appeared in 29 games, going 1-4 with a 7.36 ERA and three saves. Hit the IL in August with sprained right shoulder.
Tim Hill; LHP; Yankees; Palomar College: Made a career-high 70 appearances, going 4-4 with a 3.09 ERA.
Grant Holman; RHP; Athletics; Eastlake High School: Appeared in 22 games, going 4-2 with a 5.09 ERA.
Kyle Hurt; RHP; Dodgers; Torrey Pines High School: Underwent Tommy John Surgery and missed the entire season.
Alex Jackson; C; Orioles; Rancho Bernardo High School: Traded to Orioles by Yankees on July 6. Played in 26 games, hitting .220 with five homers, eight doubles and eight RBIs.
Connor Joe; INF/OF;Reds/Padres; Poway High School/USD: Played in 42 games, hitting .186 with four RBIs before being optioned to Triple-A.
DaShawn Keirsey Jr.; INF; Twins; Helix High School: Appeared in a career-high 74 games, hitting .107 with two home runs, six RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
Otto Kemp; INF-OF; Phillies; Point Loma Nazarene; Played in 62 games after making big-league debut on June 7, hitting .234 with eight home runs,11 doubles and 28 RBIs.
Korey Lee; C; White Sox; Vista High School: Played 25 games, hitting .257 with a homer and three RBIs.

Marcelo Mayer; INF; Red Sox; Eastlake High School: Made MLB debut on May 5 and played in 44 games, hitting .228 with four home runs, eight doubles and 10 RBIs. Underwent season-ending wrist surgery in August.
Chase Meidroth; INF; White Sox; University of San Diego: Made MLB debut on April 11. Played in 122 games, hitting .253, with five home runs, 15 doubles, 23 RBIs and 14 stolen bases.
Troy Melton; RHP; Tigers; San Diego State: Made MLB debut on July 23. Appeared in 16 games, 3-2, 2.76 ERA in 45 2/3 innings.
Michael Mercado; RHP; Phillies; Westview High School: Appeared in three games out of the bullpen before being sent to Triple-A on June 21.
Mickey Moniak; OF; Rockies; La Costa Canyon High School: Played in a career-high 135 games, hitting .270 with 24 home runs, 20 doubles, eight triples and 68 RBIs.
Chris Murphy;LHP; Red Sox; University of San Diego: Appeared in 23 games, 3-0 with a 3.12 ERA in 34 2/3 innings.
Joe Musgrove; RHP; Padres; Grossmont High School: Underwent Tommy John surgery and missed the 2025 season.
Kevin Newman; INF; Angels; Poway High School: Played in 56 games, hitting .202 with two home runs, 11 RBIs before being released Aug. 2.
Cody Poteet; RHP; Orioles; Christian High School: Made one April appearance, going 2 2/3 innings, before going on the 60-day IL with shoulder inflammation.
Thomas Saggese; INF; Cardinals; Carlsbad High School: Played in a career-high 82 games, hitting .258 with two homers, 16 doubles and 25 RBIs.
Casey Schmitt; INF; Giants; Eastlake High School/San Diego State: Played in a career-high 95 games, hitting .237 with 12 homers, 15 doubles, 34 runs and 46 RBIs.
Daniel Schneemann, INF; Guardians; Bonita Vista High School: Played in a career-high 131 games, hitting .216 with 12 homers, 18 doubles and 41 RBIs.
Paul Sewald; RHP; Guardians/Tigers; University of San Diego: Appeared in 22 games, going 1-1 with two saves and a 4.58 ERA in 19 2/3 innings.
Kyle Stowers,;OF; Marlins; Christian High School: Played a career-high 117 games, hitting .288 with 25 homers, 21 doubles and 73 RBIs. Was named a National League All-Star.
CJ Stubbs; C; Nationals; Torrey Pines High School: Played in one game, on Sept. 21. Went 0-for-3 but caught a shutout.
Garrett Stubbs; C; Phillies; Torrey Pines High School: Called up on Sept. 1 and appeared in five games.
Cole Sulser; RHP; Rays; Ramona High School: Made a career-high 18 appearances, going 2-1 with a 1.99 ERA in 22 1/3 innings.
Alan Trejo;INF; Rockies; San Diego State: Hit ,175 with one RBI in 13 games before being released.
Alex Vesia; LHP; Dodgers; Steele Canyon High School: Made a career-high 68 appearances, posting a 4-2 record with and 3.02 ERA and five saves.
Ken Waldichuk; LHP; Athletics; University City High School: Had Tommy John Surgery in 2024. Optioned to Triple-A in July.
Shay Whitcomb; INF-OF;Astros; UC San Diego: Hit .175 with a homer and one RBI in 20 games.
Carson Williams; SS; Rays; Torrey Pines High School: Made big-league debut on Aug. 22. Played in 32 games, hitting .172 with a homer and 12 RBIs.
Trevor Williams; RHP; Nationals; Rancho Bernardo High School: Appeared in 17 games, going 3-10 with a 6.71 ERA. Underwent elbow surgery in July.
Randy Wynne; RHP; Reds; Cathedral Catholic High School/Grossmont College: Appeared in one game, throwing three shutout innings.
Austin Wynns; C; Reds/Athletics;Poway High School: Played in 40 games, hitting .291 with six homers and 21 RBIs.
