I’ve had a full life because of medical advances. Do not trust RFK Jr.
Re “Kennedy defends changes for vaccines, CDC shake-up” (Sept. 5): I am 82 years old. My mother had rubella (German measles) when she was pregnant with me. I was born with a congenital heart defect, blind in one eye and with club feet.
As an infant, I had casts on my feet. I don’t remember them, but my mother told me I liked banging them against the metal slats of my crib — which drove her crazy. Fortunately, I had surgery to correct the heart defect.
My blindness wasn’t discovered until later because I could still see — just not out of both eyes.
That’s why I think it’s outrageous that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. doesn’t strongly support vaccines and is canceling medical research that could lead to lifesaving surgery like mine. I’ve had a full and long life because of medical advances. I hope parents considering not immunizing their children because Kennedy says they don’t have to will think twice and understand the possible consequences.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is leading an unfounded, unprofessional, unscientific and downright dangerous campaign against vaccines.
Today it is a battle over vaccines, but who knows what tomorrow will bring. A total war on medical expertise?
Make no mistake, people are dying and many more will follow due to the appallingly false claims and ideas of RFK Jr.
The blood of those who die unnecessarily will be on the hands of the Trump administration, which encourages this debacle, and the Republican Party, which does nothing to stop this insanity.
