Junior lifeguards fall in for Round 2 of Scripps Pier jump
Hundreds of San Diego junior lifeguards vaulted off Scripps Pier in La Jolla Shores for Part II of the 2025 pier jump July 29.
The annual jump, considered a rite of passage and an optional task to mark the completion of the Junior Lifeguards program for the summer, is presented by the Prevent Drowning Foundation of San Diego. It raises funds through participation fees to provide junior guards with scholarships and give free swimming lessons to youths in the San Diego area who don’t usually have access to them.
The San Diego Junior Lifeguards program gives youths ages 7-17 an opportunity to learn ocean skills, first aid and CPR from professional lifeguards.
Part I of this year’s 34th pier jump was July 1 and drew dozens of participants.
