Kensington Café owner debuts new daytime eatery near La Jolla
Lauren Passero-Brookes, who owns Kensington Café and The Haven Pizzeria, has opened a third restaurant this month near Westfield UTC.
Daffodil Café is open for breakfast and lunch in the La Jolla Commons business park area on the north side of La Jolla Village Drive. It’s near where Callie chef-owner Travis Swikard will open his much-anticipated Fleurette restaurant this fall.

Daffodil Café is serving office park workers as well as the general public with a scratch-made, seasonl menu designed by chef Sarah Palomares.

Her lunch offerings include a roasted chicken crunch salad with cale, cabbage apple and goat cheese, a veggie sandwich with sauteed zucchini, eggplant and burrata cheese, and a chicken tikka masala served in a housemade naan wrap. There’s also a smash burger and roasted vegetable farro bowl.
The restaurant also serves coffee from San Diego-based Talitha Coffee Roasters, as well as local beers, cider, wines, juices, smoothies and mimosas.
