La Jolla High and Bishop’s boys water polo teams advance in playoffs
La Jolla High and Bishop’s, both in the top three of the CIF San Diego Section Open Division boys water polo rankings, advanced in the first round of the playoffs Nov. 5.
No. 2 La Jolla needed triple overtime to outlast No. 7 Poway 8-7, while No. 3 Bishop’s defeated No. 6 Valhalla 22-13, both at the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex at La Jolla High.
The in-town rivals will face off at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Coggan pool.
In Division II, fifth-ranked La Jolla Country Day will take on No. 12 Rancho Bernardo at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6.
The winner will play fourth-ranked Steele Canyon at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Coggan complex.
