La Jolla recreation board looking to bring on new members and elect officers
The La Jolla Community Recreation Group — the advisory panel for the Recreation Center — is looking to increase its board membership and elect its leaders in coming months.
At its Sept. 24 meeting, the CRG formed a nominating committee to find candidates for officers to lead the board in the upcoming year. The election will be in November.
CRG member Alan Dulgeroff said candidates for board seats must have attended three meetings and write a statement of interest and submit it to the board president.
The board oversees the La Jolla Recreation Center’s programs and activities, applies for grants to fund repairs or improvements, receives reports from city of San Diego staff about goings-on at the Rec Center and more. The board meets at 5 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month.
The CRG has struggled to meet recently because of the lack of a quorum, the minimum number of board members needed in attendance to vote. As a result, the board has had to cancel a handful of meetings this year.
