One of the greatest gifts you can give your loved ones is the peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ve planned for your future. Too often, families are forced into crisis-mode decisions when a parent’s health suddenly changes. Without preparation, this can mean unnecessary stress, conflict among loved ones, and even financial hardship. By taking proactive steps now—such as exploring senior living options, reviewing long-term care coverage, designating healthcare wishes, and making your home safer—you gain control over your journey and protect your family from being overwhelmed later.
Aging on your own terms isn’t just about independence, it’s about dignity, peace of mind, and ensuring your loved ones can focus on supporting you emotionally, not scrambling to manage logistics, according to a news release.
Jonathan Schwartz is a gerontologist and the founder of Partner in Aging, a consultancy dedicated to helping older adults and their families navigate the challenges of aging with confidence and compassion. With over 20 years in the aging space, Schwartz saw how overwhelming it can be to manage care, housing, and health decisions — especially under stress.
Through Partner in Aging, he offers hands-on support including aging consultancy, private caregiver referrals, retirement community placement, hospital patient advocacy, and downsizing assistance. His mission is simple: to help families stress less and older adults age well, with dignity and the right support at every step, the news release stated.
Del Mar Community Connections is an independent 501c3 nonprofit with a mission to support and serve the older adults of Del Mar so that they may age independently at home. DMCC helps seniors live active, vibrant lives by providing transportation, education, and social activities. Those who have questions about this event, or who want to inquire about other activities and volunteer opportunities, may call DMCC during business hours at (858) 792-7565, email dmcc@dmcc.cc or visit the website at www.dmcc.cc.
