Skimmers and other disasters
Per the Chieftain article of Nov. 19, I know there is a city someone/s pleased as punch with themselves for heading off a safety disaster at our lake. And they’re probably defining right now what that disaster might be.
A bunch of old guys with remote-control model airplanes operating on a lake where boating and fishing is closed (bait store open). That’s a disaster waiting to happen. It’s amazing these guys were allowed to operate as long as they did.
So far, apparently, the disaster is perceived rather then determined. But the perception was sufficient to invite these skimmers off city premises while being encouraged to skim anywhere else where it wouldn’t be a disaster.
Congratulation to city personnel for dispensing with suitable problem mitigation and simply cancelling the operation. Attention to the lack of process should not go unrecognized. Collect your beanie hat with propeller at the door.
I’m not too worried about the skimmers. They’ll figure it out. I hope the solution is advertised. I’d like to watch what they do.
