Love Your Library: RSF Library offers literary talks, Halloween festivities and more
Books are on sale at the Book Cellar and there are plenty of “boos” to be had at the Rancho Santa Fe Library. October offers literary talks, enlightening conversations, Halloween festivities, and all kinds of healthy fun.
Book Cellar Half-Off Sale
Oct. 10 and 11. Stop by the Rancho Santa Fe Book Cellar, right below the library, for its special half-off sale. This popular event is on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. And there’s a private presale event on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m., for members of the Library Guild of Rancho Santa Fe. All books, DVDs and CDs from the store’s extensive collection are on sale. The store has dedicated sections and shelves devoted to poetry, art books, classics, gardening books and so much more. And there are cozy reading spots with comfy chairs, and volunteers to assist you in finding your next great book. Please note sale times for book dealers and online booksellers are limited to noon to 3 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Banned Books Week
Oct. 5 to 11. Come celebrate your freedom to read by checking out a banned boo from the Rancho Santa Fe Library. This year’s theme is, “Censorship Is So 1984: Read for Your Rights.”
Art Display by RSF Art Guild
Oct. 4 to Nov. 21. The Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild hosts an art display called, “The Holidays are Among Us.” The display will be in the Media Room at the Rancho Santa Fe Library, Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Writers Group
Wednesday, Oct. 8, 12:30 p.m. Are you competent, diligent, and amiable writer of fiction or narrative non-fiction? Then join your friends at the library as they meet to discuss the creative process, mechanics of craft, and representation and happenings in the publishing world. This meeting happens every second Wednesday of the month.
Book Club
Friday, Oct. 10, 1:30 p.m.Ann Patchett’s “The Dutch House” is the subject of discussion on Friday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. Pick up your copy at the branch or download a copy on the Libby app. This group meets every second Friday of the month.
Zentangle Pumpkin Workshop
Saturday, Oct. 11, 10:30 a.m. No art experience necessary. Try this easy art method to create beautiful images using structured patterns on small artificial pumpkins. All supplies provided and space is limited. Call the branch at 858-756-2512 to reserve your spot.
Coffee & Conversation: Richard Lederer’s Halloween Humor
Thursday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m. San Diego Oasis Presents Richard Lederer, “A Treasury of Halloween Humor,” for the Rancho Santa Fe Library’s Coffee & Conversation event. This popular author and San Diego Union-Tribune columnist will share history, lore, jokes, puns, poems, and funny verse about Halloween.

Baby Boo Bash Halloween Party

American Flag Drop Off
If it’s time to retire your American Flag, please drop it off at the library. There is a drop box and your flag will be treated with respect.
Battery Drop Off at Library
The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a safe place to dispose of small batteries, including A, AA, AAA, C, lithium (with taped covered ends), cell phone and other small batteries. Do your part to stop pollution by bringing this toxic trash to the library. The drop-off program is in partnership with Universal Waste.
Seeds and Sustainability
The Rancho Santa Fe Library is a seed library too! Come by to pick up two free seed varieties that you can take home and plant.
