Man killed in Ocean Beach shooting identified
A 22-year-old man who was gunned down during a confrontation in an Ocean Beach parking lot last week was identified as a San Diego resident.
Joseph Bojorquez Jr. died shortly after he was shot on Newport Avenue near Bacon Street around 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 10, San Diego homicide Lt. Lou Maggi said.
Investigators said Bojorquez was arguing with two men when he punched one of them, Maggi said. The second man pulled out a gun and shot Bojorquez at least once in the upper body.
The gunman and the other man ran from the scene west on Newport Avenue toward Santa Monica Avenue, Maggi said.
Paramedics arrived and took Bojorquez to a hospital, where he died.
Detectives collected evidence at the scene and interviewed witnesses.
Police asked anyone with information about the case to call the homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
