Neglect of Harbor Drive near Convention Center reflects badly on city
With the opening of Terminal One at the San Diego International Airport, the city has allowed the deterioration of North Harbor Drive adjacent to the Convention Center between Park Boulevard and Pacific Highway to become a teeth-chattering experience. Thirty-two million visitors came to San Diego last year, with nearly 1 million attending 80 events at the Convention Center, but despite these facts, the city has no reported plan to resurface this part of Harbor Drive within the next five years. This road not only provides access to attendees and guests at events and visiting San Diego but also to thousands of area commuters. The lack of urgency is hard to understand if not appalling. We love to tout that we are “America’s Finest City” — just don’t judge us by our roads.
