PB Monthly wins two San Diego Press Club awards
PB Monthly won two awards during the 52nd annual San Diego Press Club Excellence in Journalism Awards competition.
The ceremony was held on Oct. 28 at the Encore Event Center in Kearny Mesa.
In the magazine division, PB Monthly Editor Elizabeth Marie Himchak won first place in the general news category for “City agrees to remove controversial bollards on Diamond Street.” It appeared in the Oct. 2024 issue.
She also received an honorable mention in the profile category for “Rick Aguilar returns to SDPD’s Northern Division, this time as its captain.” It appeared in the September 2024 issue.
In all, Himchak won 11 awards (four first-place, three second-place, two third-place and two honorable mentions), with the others being in the non-daily newspapers division.
