Pacific Beach Kiwanians’ ‘Wine-Down Summer’ raises over $10K
More than $10,000 was raised during the Kiwanis Club of Pacific Beach’s fourth annual “Wine-Down Summer” event on Aug. 16.
“It looked like everyone had a great time,” said club President Jim Moore of the 80 attendees. “Thanks to everyone who donated to our silent auction and all those who bid on them. Great deals were had by all.”
Moore also said he wanted to thank the fundraiser’s major sponsors, the Broken Yolk Cafe in Pacific Beach, which provided all the food and the venue; and Total Wine and More, which provided the 40 varietals served.
“The Broken Yolk outdid themselves with the great staff and the delicious food,” Moore said, adding that his wife, Crickett, “provided the delicious desserts.”
Proceeds from the event go toward the club’s efforts to support and honor Pacific Beach students. These include Mission Bay High School’s Kiwanis Key Club, music program and athletic department; Pacific Beach Middle School’s Kiwanis Builders Club; recognition programs for elementary students at five campuses; and scholarships for graduating seniors at Mission Bay High.
The club also uses the money to support community programs and events such as the Pacific Beach/Taylor Library, Concerts on the Green series and PAESAN.
