Padres minors: El Paso pitching beat up, DSL Padres win league title
Left-hander JP Sears exited after one inning and Triple-A El Paso pitching combined for 17 hits and five walks allowed in a 10-6 loss to visiting Tacoma on Saturday.
Sears (4.50 ERA) struck out two but allowed a run on two hits and a walk while throwing 30 pitches in his lone inning of work.
Left-hander Omar Cruz (3-5, 4.89 EA) allowed four runs in three innings and right-hander Francisco Pena (4.40 ERA) allowed three runs in an inning.
Among the six pitchers used, right-hander Bradgley Rodriguez (1.93 ERA) walked a batter and allowed a hit in a scoreless inning.
Third baseman Ripken Reyes (.826 OPS) drove in three runs on three doubles.
First baseman Tim Locastro (.794 OPS) went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and three runs scored.
Center fielder Tirso Ornelas (.839 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a run scored.
El Paso is 70-60.

C Lamar King Jr. (.568 OPS) went 1-for-5 with a double. 1B Jack Costello (.638 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Rancho Cucamonga 6, Storm 0: Five pitchers combined for 12 hits and five walks allowed. LF Cardell Thibodeaux (.392 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double. RF Kavares Tears (.701 OPS) also doubled. 3B Justin DeCriscio (.697 OPS) went 2-for-4.
ROOKIE DSL FINALS
Padres Gold 12, Athletics 5: CF Moises Valdez doubled twice and drove in a run and 2B Jose Verdugo drove in two runs on two hits to help clinch the organization’s first Dominican Summer League title. SS Joan De La Cruz posted a .477 OBP in the regular season and a .962 OPS in seven postseason games.
