Padres minors: Jackson Wolf pitches El Paso to win, farm system leaders

Jackson Wolf struck out eight over six strong innings, leading Triple-A El Paso to a 5-1 win over visiting Sugar Land on Sunday.

The left-handed Wolf (4-1) allowed only an unearned run on five hits and two walks in lowering his ERA to 5.90.

Right-hander Bryan Hoeing (4.66 ERA) followed with four strikeouts over two scoreless innings and right-hander Francis Pena (3.79 ERA) struck out a batter in a scoreless ninth.

First baseman Nate Mondou (.780 OPS) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.

Center fielder Forrest Wall (.802 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits, including a double.

El Paso is 54-47.

Midland 8, Missions 6 (10): SS Francisco Acuña (.722 OPS) drove in two runs on his eighth homer. 1B Devin Ortiz (.653 OPS) went 2-for-3 with an Rbi and a walk. C Anthony Villar (.630 OPS) and 3B Marcos Castañon (.723 OPS) both had doubles. LHP Jagger Haynes (4.02 ERA) struck out six and allowed two runs in five innings in the start. RHP Tyson Neighbors (2.75 ERA) threw 1⅔ scoreless innings.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (46-48)

Cedar Rapids 7, TinCaps 0: RHP Eric Yost (4-7, 2.89 ERA) allowed three runs in 3⅔ innings in the loss. 2B Brandon Butterworth (.769 OPS) and 3B Ryan Jackson (.757 OPS) both had two hits.

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (44-51)

Stockton 12, Storm 3: RHP Kannon Kemp (6.25 ERA) allowed five runs in 2⅔ innings in relief after RHP Bryan Balzer (1-4, 7.61 ERA) allowed four runs in 2 ⅔ innings in the start. SS Cobb Hightower (.636 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits.

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (17-21) / GOLD (25-14)

Gold 12, Brown 0 (7): SS Jhoan De La Cruz (.796 OPS) went 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs, a walk and two runs scored. LF Eduarlin Tejeda (.796 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs.
