Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle in University City
A 31-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured when she was struck by a vehicle in San Diego’s University City neighborhood on Sunday evening, authorities said.
The collision happened around 9:15 p.m. on La Jolla Village Drive near Genesee Avenue. Police said the 31-year-old driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was going east when he struck the woman as she was walking south from the center median into traffic lanes.
The victim was taken to a hospital, but she could not be revived, police said.
Her name has not been released.
Police said alcohol or drugs were not factors in the crash.
