With the other cabins reflecting from her door window, Carol Ortiz looks out from her door window as her grandson plays. After relocating to California from New York, Carol Ortiz and her grandson were living with her adult children in a one-bedroom apartment. After a difficult time finding work and the tight living space, she felt she needed to move out. The sea lions needed convincing from members of SeaWorld's Rescue Team to return to the ocean. On Friday, they were released and guided two sea lions out to the ocean from the training beach at Camp Pendleton on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, in Oceanside, CA. Two female sea lions, an adult and a pup, both rescued in December 2024, are finding their way back into the ocean. The adult sea lion was rescued on December 22nd in Solana Beach and treated by SeaWorld's veterinarian staff and rescue team for pneumonia. SeaWorld said the sea lion pup was rescued December 3rd in La Jolla and was initially rehydrated with an electrolyte solution administered both subcutaneously and orally. (Nelvin C. Peter Ko has plans for a performance at the Anthenaeum Art Center in March. Peter Ko is a near-lifelong San Diegan and the principal cellist for the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus and teaches cello. He has performed all over the world as a soloist, and is a specialist in contemporary music. He holds degrees from UCSD And the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Hall's daughters, Kate Ryan (l) and Portia Ryan (r), watched as an honor detail folded the U.S. flag during memorial services held at Miramar National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in San Diego, CA. Accompanying the sisters was their dad's close family friend, Dwight Hanson. Billy C. Hall enlisted when he was only 15 years old.
