Police investigating suspicious death of woman outside car in Rancho Bernardo

San Diego police are investigating the death of a woman who was found bleeding from her head in a Rancho Bernardo parking lot Monday afternoon.

Someone called police shortly after 2:35 p.m. to report finding the woman on the ground next to a vehicle on West Bernarndo Drive near Caminito Canasto, said homicide Lt. Lou Maggi. Medics and officers responded, but the woman could not be revived.

The name of the woman was not released.

Homicide investigators are investigating the circumstances of the death as suspicious based on the woman’s unexplained injuries.

Detectives were talking with witnesses and seeking security video of the area. The county Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of the woman’s death. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the homicide unit at 619-531-2293.
