San Diego police are looking for the driver of a car that hit and killed a man as he was crossing a street late Saturday and then fled the scene.

Officers and paramedics responded to India Street near Vine Street, just east of Interstate 5, shortly before midnight and found a man believed to be about 60 who had been struck by a car while crossing mid-block, police said.

The driver of a silver or gray sedan was traveling northbound on India approaching a green light when the pedestrian entered the car’s path, police said. The victim was rushed to a hospital but he could not be revived. The name of the man who died was not released.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call San Diego Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
