Policy is deeply unfair to solar users, discourages new installations
Re “A big change is coming to your SDG&E bill. Will you pay more or less? It depends” (Aug. 24): The new $24 monthly fee charged by SDG&E is blatant extortion of $288 per year from only home solar users.
Non-solar users are not affected by this new fee because they get a 10% discount on their cost per kilowatt-hour of electricity, which will offset the new $24 monthly fee. But solar users generate their own power, so they will have no way to offset the new fee.
Therefore, the new fee is just another way for SDG&E to discriminate against solar users and discourage new solar installations.
