Notable

Castleberry, who finished 11th out of 197 runners in the Division 1 state championship, returns after winning the San Diego Section title by 1.2 seconds in 15:13.8 over the Morley Field 2.96-mile course. His time at the state meet was 15:21.1 over 3 miles, missing a top-10 finish by 1/10th of a second. Castleberry, Sage Creek’s Josiah Bowman and Crawford’s Leo Lorenzano are returning champions.

Notable

Two-time defending state champion Chiara Dailey of La Jolla bids to become the section’s first three-time state champion after winning Division 4 titles the last two years. She was second as a freshman. Dailey will also be bidding for her fourth consecutive San Diego Section crown. Eastlake’s Jaelyn Williams will be seeking her third straight CIF San Diego Section championship. Dailey, Williams, Mt. Carmel’s Olivia Campos, Santana’s Harper Diaz and Ayanna Hickey of Bishop’s will be bidding to repeat as section champions.
