Preview: UCSD takes undefeated record to Reno

Last time out: UCSD defeated Towson 87-73 on Wednesday to win the Adventure Bracket title of the Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational at Kissimmee, Fla. UCSD defeated Temple (91-76) and Bradley (87-77) in the first two rounds of the tournament. Leo Beath scored 71 points in the three games to become the tourney MVP, the national mid-major Player of the Week and the Big West Player of the Week. UCSD hit a season-high 16 3-pointers.
Series history: Nevada won the only previous meeting by eight points in 2022.
Tritons notes: UCSD is off to its fastest start since joining Division I in 2020. The Tritons’ average winning margin is 14.6 points per game. They are hitting 52.6% of their shots from the floor and 42.3% from 3-point range while turning the ball over just 10.6 times a game. Beath is averaging a team-leading 19.9 points a game. Tom Beattie is second at 13.3 and Aidan Burke is third at 11.0.
Wolf Pack notes: Nevada is 4-1 at home and is coming off an 81-65 win over San Francisco at the Acrisure Series. The Wolf Pack split their two games in Palm Desert, losing their Acrisure opener to Washington 83-66. Nevada is in its eighth season under coach Steve Alford, who was an All-American player at Indiana under Bob Knight. Corey Camper Jr. leads Nevada with 16.0 points per game. Tayshawn Comer is averaging 14.6 points a game and Elijah Price is averaging 12.1 points and a team-leading 8.0 rebounds a game.
