Preview: USD heads to San Jose looking to rediscover shooting stroke

Last time out: USD was outscored 30-18 over the final 13½ minutes last Sunday in a 76-72 loss at Long Beach State (2-6). The Toreros were 6-for-21 from 3-point range. Guard Brandon Benjamin came off the bench to hit 7-of-8 shots from the floor and lead USD with 16 points.
Series history: USD leads the all-time series 8-6 and has won five of six previous games in San Jose.
Toreros notes: After ranking seventh in the nation with a 47.2% mark on 3-point shots (34-for-72) after the season’s first three games, the Toreros have connected on just 25.3% of 3s (25-for-99) over their past four games. The top five USD scorers are all guards: Ty-Laur Johnson (11.8 points per game), Juanse Gorosito (11.1), Toneari Lane (11.0), Adrian McIntyre (8.1) and Benjamin (8.0).
Spartans notes: San Jose State is 3-2 after losing its first three games, including a 79-60 loss at 17th-ranked Michigan State. Guard Colby Garland leads the Spartans with 17.6 points and 4.0 assists per game. Guard Jermaine Washington is averaging 11.4 points per game and forward Yaphet Moundi is averaging 10.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. San Jose State has five foreign players on its roster.
