Preview: USD hosts Drake for homecoming
Drake (2-2, 1-0) at USD (3-3, 1-1)
When: 2 p.m. Saturday
Where: Torero Stadium
Streaming: ESPN+; audio on USDToreros.com
History: USD leads the all-time series, 13-6. Drake won last year’s meeting 30-28 when the Bulldogs kicked a 48-yard field goal on the last play of the game.
Bulldogs notes: Drake is coming off a 41-0 shutout of Valparaiso. The Bulldogs’ losses have come against No. 2 South Dakota State (37-21) and No. 23 South Dakota (42-21). The Bulldogs are averaging 31 points per game.
Toreros notes: It will be interesting to see if USD continues alternating quarterbacks after Tyler Voss struggled in last week’s 19-14 loss at Marist, going 4 for 13 for 22 yards. Dom Nankil has thrown for 392 yards over the past two games, while Voss has thrown for 77. USD has been particularly hurt by injuries to running backs Matt Colombo and Adam Criter. The Toreros rushed for only 92 yards on 31 carries against Marist. It’s homecoming for USD.
