Last time out: USD opened its season with an 88-59 win at home over Division III Occidental. The Toreros connected on 10 of 16 3-point attempts in the first half and led by as many as 40 points. Toneari Lane, a transfer guard from Georgia State, hit 5 of 7 3s in the first half and led USD with 15 points. Forward Tim Moore Jr. had 13 points and freshman guard D’Arrae Goodwin added 10.
Series history: The teams have split their two previous meetings, with Idaho State winning the most recent meeting last year, 78-66.
Bengals notes: Idaho State is in San Diego for three days, playing at USD Friday night and San Diego State Sunday. The Bengals defeated Park University of Arizona 81-71. Forward Connor Hollenbeck paced the Bengals with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Quin Patterson, a transfer from UC San Diego, also had 18 points and forward Caleb Van De Griend had 16 points and eight rebounds. The Bengals were 15-15 last season.
Toreros notes: USD’s starting lineup against Occidental included transfers Juanse Gorosito (Ball State), Assane Diop (Colorado) and 6-5 G Dominique Ford (Southern Utah), freshman Goodwin and Vuk Boskovic from Bosnia & Herzegovina. The Toreros have seven transfers and two international players on their roster.
