History: Princeton leads the all-time series 4-1, beating Jim Harbaugh’s Toreros team in 2004 and 2005. The teams last met in 2023, with the Tigers beating USD 23-12 at Torero Stadium. USD’s lone victory in the series came in 2014, when they won 39-29 at home.
Toreros notes: USD will try to rebound after a 41-7 blowout last Saturday at sixth-ranked Montana State. The Toreros are averaging just 136.3 yards passing per game, a figure that ranks 99th out of 118 FCS programs. USD is averaging 312 yards per game, 76th in the nation. USC transfer Matt Colombo has rushed for a team-high 258 yards on 58 carries. Dom Nankil (Mater Dei Catholic High School) has thrown for 396 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Linebacker Nate Fischer leads the Toreros with 32 tackles; no other player has more than 20.
Tigers notes: Princeton is coming off a 3-7 season in which the Tigers allowed an average of 31.2 points per game. Blaine Hipa returns at quarterback. He threw for 1,665 yards and 10 touchdowns last season but was intercepted 15 times. Princeton carries one San Diegan on its roster: sophomore kicker Will Cluskey, who went to Bishop’s.
