Johnson led all scorers with 23 points and Toneari Lane added 17 points. Forward Vuk Boskovic scored 10 points and hit back-to-back 3-pointers early in the second half to help the Toreros to a 15-point lead.
Series history: Washington leads the all-time series, 3-1
Toreros update: USD coach Steve Lavin is 10-4 in his career against Washington, but only 3-4 against the Huskies in Seattle. After regularly mixing and matching his lineup due to injuries and newcomers during much of the nonconference season, Lavin has gone more with Johnson, Lane and Boskovic plus freshman forward Alejandro Aviles and guards Adrian McIntyre and Juanse Gorosito during two straight wins. Johnson now leads USD in scoring (13.5 points a game) and assists (41). Lane is second in scoring at 11.2 ppg and Gorosito is third at 9.9.
Huskies update: Both USD and Washington have played USC. The Huskies rallied at home on Dec. 6 to upset the then-No. 24 Trojans, 84-76. Three days later, the Trojans pulled away from a 38-38 tie at halftime to defeat USD 94-81 at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The Huskies are averaging 83 points a game with five players in double figures. Freshman Hannes Steinbach from Germany is averaging 17.5 points and 11.9 rebounds a game. Sophomore G Wesley Yates III is averaging 14.9 ppg. Senior G Desmond Claude is averaging 14.1 ppg. Sophomore G Zoom Diallo is averaging 13.5 ppg. Senior G Quimari Peterson is averaging 10.5 ppg.
